RB-35 Information
by Ginger Wolnik
The RB-35 canary double breeding cage was originally designed by
Sunshine Bird Supplies which is now owned by
The Higgins
Group Corp., Miami Florida
1-305-593-2666 or 1-800-878-2666.
Their photo of this cage can be seen at:
http://www.higginsgrpcorp.com/morecage.htm.
The RB-30 in the photo was the non-collapsing version and is no
longer made. The first RB-35's were made in Brazil. A slightly
different design is now made in China. Both versions are the same
dimensions and can stack interlocked. RB-35 S is the part
number of the stand (not shown), which has wheels. Caution, do not
use the covered plastic cups for providing water. A small bird such
as a canary can climb in and get trapped and drown. Check the wire
ends of the various door springs and trim or bend them to prevent a
bird getting its band caught. Wash the cage before using in warm,
soapy water to remove an oily coating.
If the bottom grill is not used, there may be a gap above the
bottom tray large enough for a small bird to get out. You can use a
clothes pin under the front of the tray to shim it up and narrow the
gap. A clothes pin can also be used to secure the grill in place so
it doesn't slide out. Thanks to Cathie R. in Evanston, IL for these
suggestions!
The following instructions were included in my first RB-35 order.
This copy is provided as a convenience to the many people who did not
receive assembly instructions with their order, especially those
who ordered based on my recommendation. --GW
RB-35 Supercage Assembly Directions
- Open four-sided cage housing (A) and place upright on a flat
surface with cage doors facing you.
- Place one of the catching tray tracks (B) inside the cage and
hang it with its hooks on the third horizontal bar from the bottom of
the cage on the left side. Do the same for the right inside of the
cage with the other catching tray track (B).
- Slide bottom grill (C) inside cage between tracks of the catching
tray tracks (B) with hooks facing down. When sliding in bottom
grill, make sure cage is facing you.
- Secure bottom grill (C) to inside back of cage by placing the
three hook ends of the bottom grill on first horizontal bar. Do the
same procedure for the front inside of the cage. Note: Slight
pressure may need to be applied while securing the hooks of the
bottom grill to the inside of the cage.
- Slide catching tray (D), with drawer pull facing you, inside the
catching tray tracks (B).
- Slide the floor grill (E) on top of the catching tray tracks (B),
with pull facing you.
- Place the bottom partition guide (F) vertically in the center of
cage, on top of the floor grill (E). Secure the bottom partition
guide to the front and back of the cage by inserting the ends in the
front and back spacings in the center of the cage. Be sure that the
track in the bottom partition guide is face up.
- Slide center partition grill (G) through the front of the cage's
center vertical slot and into the track of the bottom partition guide
(F). Be sure that the pull to the center partition grill is facing
out toward you.
- Place the roof grill on top of the cage (A), with its roof
partition guide tracks facing down inside the cage. Be sure that the
metal tabs of the top of the cage are resting on the inside
bars of the roof grill and that the center partition grill (G) is
resting inside the roof partition guide track. Fold the metal tabs
over the outside bars of the roof grill.
