Cat Feeding Box

Here is a solution to when you have 2 cats on different diets. One of the cats is allowed to eat whatever he wants, but the other cat is not. The cat that can eat at any time has access to this feeding box with dry cat food. It is a plastic storage crate with a pet door mounted on it. Air holes have been drilled on the sides. The lid comes off for easy cleaning and refilling the dry cat food dish. Originally, the cat wore a collar with a magnet that released the door. The collar eventually broke, but by then the other cat had given up trying to enter the box, so a round magnet is now kept on the threshold of the cat door into the box. If the other cat, who is on a special diet, ever figures out she can now enter the box too, a collar with a magnet will be put back on the free feeding cat.

This box was conceived by Ginger Wolnik and designed and built by Carla Cremers. Scroll down to view all the photos.
