We rode the train to downtown Chicago for a day in the City. We took a taxi from the train to The Field Museum of Natural History for a special exhibit on Mammoths and Mastadons (no flash photography was allowed and the lighting was too dim.) Kathy's son Brian met us for lunch at the museum (as a teacher, he gets free admission.) Then we rode the Chicago Metro train to Hyde Park. We went on a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Robie House and then visited the Oriental Art Institute on the University of Chicago campus. On the way back to the train, a fierce windstorm blew in. When we got back to Kathy's house that evening, we were surprised to learn that there were widespread power failures and downed trees. Windows had blown out of some tall buildings while we were walking in the rain to the train but we didn't know it at the time! Fortunately we only got a little wet and Kathy's home never lost power.
